Weeks ago, Qualcomm had announced that it is adding a new processor to its smartphone chipset, which is Snapdragon 712. This chipset is an upgraded version of Snapdragon 710 which the company has prepared for the gap between its mid-range and high-end chipsets. In Snapdragon 712 you will find almost all the features that were present in the previous generation. Along with this, it has added a new feature such as Quick Charge 4+ support and a new DSP.

 

Snapdragon 712 is based on a 10nm manufacturing process, and it also comes with AI Engine which captures CPU, GPU, and DSP, so that AI can be tuned. Snapdragon 712 is similar to the Kryo 360 cores, with speeds of 2.3GHz and also better than the Snapdragon 710. SoC supports LPDDR4X RAM up to 8GB at speeds of 1866Mhz.

SoC's GPU is also similar to Snapdragon 710. It uses the Adreno 616 GPU. Although Qualcomm has claimed that the SoC works better than Snapdragon 710 with 35 percent improvement in graphics. The same Spectra 250 ISP is also where 40 percent has been introduced with improvement. If you talk about the difference, then this new Snapdragon 712 Quick Charge 4+ is supported, which charges 50 percent of the phone in 15 minutes. In addition, there is also Hexagon 685 DSP.

 

The inbuilt modem is Snapdragon X15 which supports the LTE Cat.15 downlink as well as Cat.13 which also gives the speed of 800 Mbp and 150 Mbps. The SoC has a 20MP dual camera and a 32MP single shooter that is also available in Snapdragon 710 with the Spectra 250 ISP.
